Marc Ranger was the Quebec Director of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) from January 2016 until fall 2022. CUPE, the country’s largest union with over 750,000 members, represents 145,000 members in Quebec in 13 activity sectors. Marc spent nearly 25 years with CUPE and was involved in multiple negotiations in federal and provincial jurisdictions. He was at the forefront of the debates on pension-plan restructuring between 2011 and 2015. In 2020-21, he led the Quebec public-sector negotiations for the 65,000 workers affiliated with the Fonds de solidarité FTQ.
 
Marc has been a guest speaker at numerous symposia, forums and debates on collective bargaining, crisis management, communication, mobilization and the importance of acting proactively in the face of change. He taught collective bargaining at the Université du Québec à Montréal’s School of Management.
 
Since February 2023, he has been a Strategic Advisor at Ryan Affaires publiques et Communication. He is frequently called upon to comment on current negotiations and disputes as a labour-relations specialist, whether through weekly columns or occasional media appearances.
