John Dark, FCIA

Chair of the Professionalism and Credential Monitoring Board
John was born in Stratford, Ontario. He graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1979 with a degree in actuarial science and computer science. He became a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries in 1979. John worked in individual life insurance and reinsurance from 1974 until retiring in December 2024.
A long-standing CIA volunteer, John chaired the former Eligibility and Education Council as well as the former Human Resources, Finance, Audit and Risk Committee. He also served as a Director of the CIA Board and Secretary-Treasurer, and as CIA President in 2018-19. Currently, John is the Chair of the Professionalism and Credential Monitoring Board and a member of the Tribunal Panel.
John lives in Regina with his wife and assorted canines.
