Gitta Kulczycki is the first of her German immigrant family to attend university, earning a commerce degree (cum laude) in accounting, finance and mathematics from Laurentian University and an MBA (magna cum laude) from the University of Ottawa. She is a chartered professional accountant.

Over her 40-plus-year career, Gitta has served in senior leadership roles in Canada’s post-secondary education, health-care and high-tech sectors. She was vice-president of finance and administration at the University of Alberta and vice-president of resources and operations at Western University. She has served as vice-president and chief financial officer for the Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, the South-East Health Care Corporation in Moncton, and the Calgary General Hospital.

In 2020, Gitta joined Dalhousie University as vice-president of finance and administration. She plays a key role in the development, management and planning for the university’s infrastructure, human resources, information management, sustainability and financial services.

Gitta has been heavily involved in her profession and in every community in which she has resided. She is a past-president and past chair of the Canadian Association of University Business Officers. Currently she serves on the boards of CANARIE (formerly the Canadian Network for the Advancement of Research, Industry and Education), Canadian Universities Reciprocal Insurance Exchange and Interuniversity Services Incorporated.
