Conrad Ferguson held the position of President of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries for the 2024-25 term, which ended on June 30, 2025.

Conrad began his career in the insurance industry and became the valuation actuary for a small regional life insurer. He moved into consulting in the late 1980s, initially as a generalist working in pensions, workers’ compensation, group insurance and actuarial evidence. For the past 20 years, he has concentrated on pensions and workers’ compensation, with a particular focus on the development of sound funding policies. He’s also provided expert advice and support to several public task forces and review committees in workers’ compensation and pensions.

Conrad is a long-time CIA volunteer. He began his extensive volunteer journey in the 1980s, which culminated with him receiving the Award of Excellence in 2017. He served as chair of the Actuarial Standards Board from 2017 to 2019, and was a member of several designated groups and the former Practice Standards Council. He chaired the Committee on Workers’ Compensation during the adoption of the first standard for workers’ compensation practice. He has also served on the Actuarial Evidence Committee, the Committee on Professional Conduct and several task forces and ad hoc groups.
